Profiling and raising the whole bed do different jobs
Profiling changes the position of the backrest and leg sections. A high-low mechanism raises or lowers the whole mattress platform. Check both functions if you need to adjust posture and working height. A domestic adjustable bed may be enough when only posture needs to change.
Choose the bed around the daily tasks
List what the person can do independently and what help is needed during the day and at night. Washing in bed, changing bedding and moving to a chair require different access and equipment. An electric bed does not replace a full-body lift when that is needed for transfers.
Measure the room and the route into it
- Check the assembled outer dimensions, not just the mattress size.
- Measure doorways, turns, lift access and the largest delivery package.
- Leave working space on the side needed for care and transfers.
- Check under-bed clearance, crossbars and manoeuvring space for existing equipment.
- Keep access to brakes, the handset and a suitable power outlet.
Mark the outer footprint on the floor before ordering. A 105 cm platform adds 15 cm of width over a 90 cm platform; the complete bed and working area need separate measurements.
Compare the actual size and package

Read height and weight limits carefully
Ask whether the height is measured to the platform or mattress surface. Check the minimum height needed for sitting and the working range needed for care. Patient weight and total supported load are different figures: the manufacturer must explain what each limit includes.
Choose mattress and rails as a system
Follow the specified mattress dimensions and compatibility instructions. A different mattress or an overlay can change gaps and the effective height of the rails. Include delivery and assembly in the comparison

Match the labels, accessories and mattress to the order. Follow the supplied instructions for assembly, brake and control checks, emergency lowering and maintenance. Keep the manual, invoice and support contact. Arrange assessment if the planned transfer cannot be carried out safely.
